Please introduce yourself and your brand….
I’m Chanchala. I make Steampunk inspired jewellery & clocks.
How would you describe your style and your creations?
Quirky and fun with little twists, and incorporating upcycled materials where possible. A lot of my pieces are one-of-a-kind & most are certainly unique owing to the materials I use.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I actually enjoy all aspects of my work (including doing the accounts!) but the best part is just getting lost in the process of designing/making/trying something for the first time.
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair Brighton this Spring? And are you looking forward to taking part?
I will have my usual collection of creatures & popular designs of jewellery. I’m also working on pieces for Brighton Artists Open Houses so you should see some one-of-a-kind clocks I’ve been working on in preparation for the open houses. I always have unusual designs at fairs/events which don’t make it online because they’re gone before I get around to photographing & listing. It’s my very first time with the Fairytale fair so certainly looking forward to meeting new people & I also think the Open Market venue is fantastic & vibrant!
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
This year my plan is to try and get a little help! While I love all aspects of my work, I’m finding it difficult to do everything myself at the moment. Generally, my ambition is to keep things fresh & introduce lots of new designs & to always try out new things. I love how it’s going right now & the aim is to keep it up!
Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?
A quote which captures my mood at the moment is: “Not getting something you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck. – Dalai Lama“
How can we find out more about you?
