Today we’re pleased to catch up with Martha Mitchell Design who joins us this weekend, the 10th & 11th November, at Brighton Open Market. Find out more about her ahead of the fair…
Please introduce yourself and your brand….
Hello I am Martha from Martha Mitchell Design. I produce homeware and gifts decorated with intricate illustrations of cities including, Liverpool, Manchester, London and my hometown – Brighton.
How would you describe your style and your creations?
My work is mainly black and white although there are new additions of colour this year including tea-towels and coasters. I aim to produce stylish and simple well made products for the home as well as gifts.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I love doing the actual drawings for new ranges – I draw with 0.05 unipin pens which give a really fine line (I have to buy in bulk as they dry out quite quickly!) Although it is quite daunting when starting a new range I love researching all the different buildings to draw and finding out about new cities.
What can we expect to find on your stall at The Fairy Tale Fair Christmas Special at Brighton Open Market this November? And are you looking forward to taking part?
I am really looking forward to taking part in The Fairy Tale Fair – the Open Market is a brilliant venue so it is great top be surrounded by not only other stall holders but to also have a browse of the shops and cafes that are permanently at the market. As well as the new tea-towels and coasters I will have all my usual stock from mugs, jugs and prints to brooches, cards and teapots as well as lots more!
Do you have a best seller?
It would have to be my tea-towels and mugs, I am hoping to sell gift sets which will include a matching coaster too.
Do you have any plans or ambitions for the future?
I would love to create more ranges of different cities, I went to Copenhagen earlier in the year so a Copenhagen range would be great!
Do you have a motto or inspirational quote?
You can’t please all the people all the time
Describe your Christmas in 3 words…
sweets, games, shakin stevens (sorry that was four!)
How can we find out more about you?
