Today we meet Evie of Evie Brighton Prints. New to our fair she will join us for the first time on Saturday May 20th at Brighton Open Market. We feel her Brighton themed prints were very well suited for our Brighton Fringe special.
I am Evie and I have only recently started selling my prints and cards of Brighton Pavilion and the West Pier at local craft events. I produce my own bespoke images of these two iconic Brighton landmarks, based on photographs I have taken on days exploring the city and I then develop them digitally. Its a long and focussed process but really enjoyable and I love producing a print or card I feel can be shared with and loved by others.
My style is colourful, bold and I hope a bit magical and I have taken my inspiration from both these building, which I admire and love for their form and history. What I enjoy most about my work is seeing an original image I have captured transformed but still in touch with its original form and presence – its a very satisfying process. At my stall you can expect to find a range of prints and cards of the Pavilion and the West Pier – in varied colours, images and sizes. I like to be able to make my work accessible to different budgets so you can buy my prints either framed or unframed and at I hope reasonable prices. I have also recently added a range of handmade gift cards which can be bought individually or as affordable gifts sets. My best seller is an image I captured of the west pier one lovely summer day – which with a added dash of glitter and sparkle creates a wonderful print or card.
My work is inspired by the poem of Seamus Heaney – Had I not been awake I would have missed it and what it can tell us about our lives and I hope the essence of this piece is reflected in my work. By living so much in our heads we often miss the beauty of that which is all around us – we pass it by and in so doing we miss something so important. With these images I have tried to capture some of that which is so easy to miss and remind people of the history, beauty and majesty of these two wonderful buildings we see every day in this great city of Brighton.
My plans for the future are to keep selling my prints in the local markets and craft fairs in Brighton, so keep an eye out for dates on my website www.eviebrightonprints.weebly.com or email me on eviebnow@hotmail.co.uk for selling dates and more information on my prints and cards.
